Atlético Madrid are in talks with the Juventus striker Carlos Tevez. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has said his club’s representatives are in talks with Juventus striker Carlos Tevez over a potential summer move. Tevez, 31, has reportedly told the Italian club he wants to leave.
The Argentinian helped Juve to the Serie A title and the Champions League final this season and Atlético are on the alert with speculation in Italy and Spain that he is looking to leave.Simeone says he hopes to sign Juventus attacker Carlos Tevez and Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis this summer. The Argentine told the reporter that his compatriot would be an “ideal” signing for the La Liga club.
“I know the club is speaking with his agent,” their coach Diego Simeone said. “It is always good to have a player like Tevez. He is hot-blooded, which is a healthy part of this sport, and that is aside from how many goals he is able to score in a season.”
Atletico are looking to boost their forward line and Tevez would fit into their determined style based on hard work. The Atletico boss said the signing of Villarreal forward Luciano Vietto was “imminent” and added that he also hoped to bring in their former player and defender Filipe Luis, 29, from Chelsea to the squad.
Atletico are also keen to sign Luis, who left the Spanish club for Chelsea in a €20 million deal last summer but had little involvement under Jose Mourinho. They lost Diego Costa to Chelsea last year and while Antoine Griezmann has come in and done well, Atletico were hoping for more from Croatian Mario Mandzukic. “He would be a perfect signing considering the football that Atlético Madrid play,” added Simeone.
The Spaniards are looking to boost their forward line and Tevez, formerly of West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City, would fit into their hard-working style. They lost Diego Costa to Chelsea last year and while Antoine Griezmann has come in and done well, the club was hoping for more from the Croat Mario Mandzukic.
“He’s a player we’re very fond of and he knows us well and gave so much to the team. I hope this one comes off,” said Simeone of the player who left Atletico for Stamford Bridge last summer.
Meanwhile, Villarreal starlet Luciano Vietto is another target for Simeone who gave him his debut at Argentine side Racing Club.
