President of Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, refused to rule out Xavi Hernandez and Dani Alves in this summer exits. The reports in Spain said that at the end of the season Xavi is prepared to sign a three-year contract to join Qatari club Al Sadd.
During his time in Qatar, Xaviwill receive a salary of €10 million. This 35-year-old midfielder will also study to get his coaching licences and rejecting the proposals from some Major League Soccer clubs.
Besides, Dani Alves has also been associated with a Camp Nou exit. This Brazil international player’s agent has said earlier in March that Alves, the 31-year-old right-back player,is almost signing for another club considering his contract is about to expire this summer.
Bartomeu repeated what he said last year that Xavi will make his own decision for his next career. His contract still runs until next year, but if he wants to leave then he will have a full support from his team.
Related to contract, Bartomeu said that it is about a planning matter when it comes to Dani Alves, and he can’t give any comment. However, he also stated it’s true that steps are being taken and everything should keep moving. Some news will be released, and it is not only about Dani Alves.
Bartomeu also added about the Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Athletic that will be held at the Liga leaders’ home ground. He claimed that he will made the Athletic Bilbao fans sure that they will feel welcome at the Camp Nou stadium.
He stated that it was important for both team fans considering it was played at a big stadium but not a neutral ground. They asked to play the final at the Bernabeu, but the Real Madrid president told them that it was not available.
Bartomeu mentioned that Barca’s other preferences were Mestalla and Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. Then he proposed the Camp Nou, while Athletic offered San Mames, and the final vote chose the Camp Nou, the huge stadium, although it is not a neutral ground. He said that his team will make the Athletic fans feel very much like home.
However, Javier Tebas, La Liga president, saidthat the Copa del Rey final should be abandoned if Barcelona and Athletic fans whistle Spain’s national anthem if it is played before the kickoff. Remembering the knockout stage, the Catalan and Basque met in the 2012when the anthem being greeted by loud whistles from both sides of fans.
