Bayern Munich celebrated their third Bundesliga winning title by beating Mainz at the Allianz Arena. The final score for the last final day of the 2014/2015 was 2-0. The title was actually already secured by Bayern even before the kick-off of the final match, as was Mainz’ mid-table security.

Pep Guardiola’s men gained full control of the game in front of their 75,000 fans, while a penalty by Robert Lewandowski and Bastian Schweinsteiger were the real victory for both the team and the people. The Munich side played with freedom, finding the breakthrough via the penalty in the 25th minute.

The game was Schweinsteiger 500th Bayern Munich appearance, and his goal for Bundesliga title had made the season ends comfortably for the player. He sent a header as the chances multiplied for his team before they finally take the lead over Mainz. The player killed Mainz’s slender hopes of a turnaround as he closed the chance with straightforward concluding goal.

While it was no surprise that Lewandowski was the one who take the control of the penalty, after Niko Bungert guarded the area. The Polish player stroked in the spot-kick to move to two goals for the team.

Mainz coach, Martin Schmidt, had realized that it would not be easy to deal with a club which contained seven World Cup winners, including Spain’s Xabi Alonso. And for the final match he decided to leave out his side’s most lethal weapon Shinji Okazaki for the first time this season. Schmidt’s men put up bravely at the start of the final, but at times tired resistance having already reached their goal for the season. They were good enough not to come away back off as the team and the fans sat back to see the opponent took possession of the winning trophy and watched the party began in Munich.
