In the history of German Bundesliga, Everton have becoming infrequent shoppers in each transfer window. However, it is a league which could provide Everton boss Roberto Martinez with value for money this summer. The Bundesliga continues to grown in stature with each passing year and has positioned itself as the closest rival, after Spain’s La Liga, to English football’s top flight.
Names like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Muller, IlkayGundogan and Mats Hummels are beyond the realms of possibility for Everton this summer. Here are five potential Bundesliga bargains that might fill the slots in Goodison Park.
Swiss defensive midfielder PirminSchwegler of 1899 Hoffenheim was one of the most consistent performers in the center of the park in last season’s Bundesliga. The teams missed out on a spot in the Europa League by just four points, but Schwegler played an important role as he moved from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. He is a tough tackler who can effectively guard the back four, even though he is not likely find the net. The 28-year-old would ikely be available for around £7m.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Karim Bellarbi had given 20 goals in all competitions last summer and he would provide an interesting option. The 25-year-old enjoyed his breakout season in the Bundesliga last time around, netting 12 times for Leverkusen as they bagged the fourth Champions League spot.
FC Augsburg have exceeded all expectation in the Bundesliga last term by finishing fifth and finding a spot in Europa League for the first time in their history. The form of Ghanaian full-back Abdul Rahman Baba was a particular highlight among the successful term. Primarily operating as a left-back, Rahman Baba is an attacking full-back who can operate on either flank. Chelsea have mentioned an interest for £11 million, although he could be tempted to have more regular play at Goodison Park.
Another man from Augsburg will be Raul Bobadilla, who earned his first cap for Paraguay this year, and earned 12 goals during the campaign. The £6-reated striker has a strong goalscoring pedigree and also able to operate on the flanks. He could provide Tofeess boss with complete abilities on the pitch.
ZlatkoJunuzovic from SV Werder Bremen still had the spotlight although the team who were targeting a Europa League place suffered from underachievement. Austrian international winger Junuzovic one of their key men who may be tempted by the lure of English football next season. He is known as a dead-ball specialist and he has prime and possession on the ball.
