People are talking about Ronaldo’s mental and physical states recently; and the news continues to dominate the Spanish media coverage in the buildup to Sunday (15/3) La Liga clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.
The local media have discussed Ronaldo’s attitude to fellow Madrid star Gareth Bale, and whether or not he shouted at fans whistling the team during the last 2-0 win over Levante. The petulant reaction of Real Madrid’s superstar striker to Welshman’s goal against Levante was widely criticized by local media during this week.
The most remarkable thing about his displays during the game with Levante is that it gave the impression that Ronaldo was more preoccupied by a personal sense of injustice at not getting on the scoresheet himself than contentment that his fellow Gareth Bale finished off the chances.
On the other hand, it also gives specific view that his ego has consumed him, concerning the fact that he remained the world’s most expensive player even after they had signed Bale for a higher fee. Some analysts believe that the crisis he is suffering more psychological than physical, related to his personal life and famous demands on himself which may provoke anxiety when he realizes things are not going well, over a long period of time.
Another thing that put the star in difficult situation is how he has not been dealing with it very well. He is refused to speak to the media and clearly got the hump with his more expensive team mate. But perhaps, the most tellingly news is how Ronaldo is losing his own supporters.
Fortunately, nor do other team-mates feel Ronaldo’s behavior is unhealthy for team spirit. Sergio Ramos commented, “It is difficult to be Cristiano and he has been performing at a very high level for a number of years.” He also encourages all the fans to appreciate what he brings to the team during his career at Real Madrid; including 293 goals in 285 appearances.
Ex-Barcelona forward, Hristo Stoichkov, commented to the issue, “Cristiano’s future, well, you would have to ask Florentino, who has had galacticos before. Sooner or later, Cristiano will be sold by the president. The world of football is like that, but it depends on the president. I do not know if he needs money. If he does, it will be a good moment to sell him.”
On the other hand, Lionel Messi’s superb current form was weighing on Ronaldo’s mind at present. Messi at the moment is much better than Ronaldo. It can the that the obsession with Messi affects Ronaldo psychologically.
