Bayern Munich defender Dante has said he “will always give everything” for the Bundesliga champions despite being linked with a move away in recent weeks. The Bayern Munich defender has been a target of United boss Louis van Gaal’s as he looks to bolster his suspect defense. It is understood United bosses had sounded out Dante about a possible move to Old Trafford this summer.
On the other hand, the 31-year-old found starting opportunities somewhat limited during the recently-completed season as Bayern boss Pep Guardiola preferred to partner Jerome Boateng and MedhiBenatia in central defense. That condition sparked speculation that he could leave the Allianz Arena. Dante’s inability to cement a starting place in the heart of Bayern’s backline has seen him linked with a move away from Bayern Munich with Manchester United, Juventus and his former club Borussia Monchengladbach reportedly interested.
But the defender, who has two years left on his Bayern contract, maintains he has no desire to quit the Bundesliga champions. Dante stressed that he is happy at Bayern Munich and is in no mood to change clubs during the summer break. He insists his future lies with the Bavarian club, whom he joined in 2012 on a four-year deal from Monchengladbach, and he points to the success he and Bayern have enjoyed as reason enough to stay and fight for his place.
“I see my future with FC Bayern,” he told the official Bundesliga website.“I’ve been playing here for three years now and I know every single day how fortunate I am to be able to play for such a big club. I enjoy every day here.”
Dante joined Bayern Munich in 2012 for the start of the 2012–13 season for an estimated fee of €4.7 million from BorussiaMönchengladbach. Dante has won three German league titles, two German Cups and a Champions League crown amongst various other honors with the Bavarians. In his time at BorussiaMönchengladbach, Dante was well known for his hair, becoming a cult hero with Borussia fans regularly sporting large afro wigs as an homage to their favorite player. Bayern fans quickly continued this tradition after the defender’s move to Munich.
“Just think, I’ve been in at least the semi-finals of the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal Cup in each of these three years, and won the Bundesliga each time.It can hardly get any better than that. I’ll always give everything for this club,” added the defender.
