Emmanuel Adebayor insists he is looking forward to next season with Tottenham and has denied all knowledge of an agent claiming to represent him. Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor insists that he is “very happy” at the club despite being linked with a move away from White Hart Lane. Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor rubbished reports he will move to Turkey, distancing himself from a man purporting to be his agent.
Reports in the Turkish media this week quoted Mehdi Isik, claiming to be the Togo international’s new agent, saying the 31-year-old was interested in a move to the country. The Togo international, who made just 17 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio’s side last season, has been linked with Crystal Palace, as well as a move to Turkey in recent days.
The Togo striker has taken to Twitter to dismiss reports linking him with a move to Turkey. “For the record, I have seen some articles regarding a transfer to teams in Turkey. I can confirm I have never heard of Mehdi Isik who has said he is my agent and have never discussed any move to Turkey. I am very happy with Tottenham and look forward to the next season with them.”
Adebayor previously played for Metz, Monaco, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City. He was voted African Footballer of the Year for 2008. Adebayor first came to Spur as loan player and finished the term as Tottenham as the club’s top goal scorer, with 18 goals in which 17 scored in the Premier League. Finally in 2012, Adebayor signed a permanent deal with Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth £5m, after a protracted period of negotiations. A towering striker, Adebayor is described as being “tall, skilful, strong in the air and with the ability to score and create.”
During in 2014/2015 season, the striker went on to score eight goals in his next ten Premier League matches, with goals in wins against Southampton, Manchester United and Swansea City,Evertonand Newcastle United. On 7 April 2014, Adebayor reached ten goals for the Premier League season, scoring twice in a 5-1 home win over Sunderland.
Adebayor has struggled for game time at different periods throughout the past few seasons, with the 31-year-old forward having only appeared 13 times for Tottenham in the 2014-15 Premier League, starting nine times for two goals. However he successfully ended the season as Spurs’ top goalscorer with 14 goals from 25 appearances.
