Club Brugge Koninklijke Voetbalverenigning, also known as Club Bruges Royal Football Association won their first Belgian Cup after defeating Anderlecht. The game was the first time of the two giants of Belgian football meet in the final of the tournament since 1994. People was curious about the match, since the rivalry between Club Brugge and Anderlecht has developed since the 1970s, and in this year they are contested again for the title of champion of Belgium.Club Brugge has won ten Belgian Cup and their winning in 2014-2015 tournament will be their new beginning after the latest title in 2006-2007. The Three Bears showed their great performance in the final of 2014-2015 Belgian Cup and they finally holds back the title.
The match between two giant Belgian teams had been delayed by 30 minutes after Anderlecht arrived late to the stadium owing to the traffic. Lior Refaelov was involved in the opening goal of the game on 12 minutes free-kick which Tom De Suffer made the perfect volley. Anderlecht’s Aleksandar Mitrovik levelled the score in 89th minute after Timmy Simons failed to clear a cross.The match in King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels, seemed destined for an extra half-hour which turned into a nightmare for Anderlecht. The late volley by Refaelov in the 92nd-minute was a revelation for the team for it gave their first major title in eight years. He successfully give the team its honorable 11th cup triumph of Belgian Cup.
The coach, Michel Preud’homme, stated that everyone at the club has been waiting to win a prize for so long. “The first trophy is always the most difficult. Now we will wait and see what the rest of the season brings us,” he said, concerning the fact that it was not easy for the club after the European away match which held on Thursday, March 19th 2015. Great season for Preud’homme and the team, because Club Brugge is also through to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals after defeating Besiktas JK in Istanbul. They will deal with FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on 16 and 23 April on the upcoming matches.
Everyone was happy; the team, the coach, and of course, the fans. Following the end of the game, King Baudouin Stadium was full of sparkling wild celebrations from the team and fans. The town was also full with crowd of Brugge fans who celebrated their big title after an eight years of loiter.
