During his football career, Andres Iniesta has played with some of the best forwards in the world, and he ranks Luis Suarez among the best to have played for Barcelona.Iniesta admitted that he is delighted to know that Suarez will be for the remaining two legs of Barcelona’s treble bid following his injury.
Suarez was forced to sit out the final two rounds of the Catalans’ triumphant Liga campaign with a hamstring problem but has been passed fit to face Athletic Bilbao in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final.
On Thursday (28/5), Suarez has made his return to have training session with his teammates.
Iniesta is delighted by the Uruguay international’s imminent return, as he feels that Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar have this season formed the most lethal front three Camp Nou has ever seen.
“I’ve been lucky to play behind some of the greatest strikers at this club and in the world,” the World Cup winner told reporters on Friday.
“Having those three, there’s no doubt, it’s something you can’t compare with. So, I think at this current moment we have the best strikers in world. I think the future can only get better because they’re relatively young with plenty of potential.”
Suárez made his move to Barcelona for a fee reported by the English press in the region of £75 million (€94 million), while Barcelona claim a fee of £65 million (€81 million), making him the third most expensive player in football history.
“He is playing in his first season, so to be in this situation is extra motivation especially having played such an important role in the team,” the 31-year-old added.
Iniesta also mentions his gratitude to the opponent team that he will be dealing with, Athletic Bilbao. “Athletic are very intense, always pressing, something that they have done very well in La Liga. This is a massive game for them too, so we will have to once again give our maximum.”
The Uruguayan striker has been out due to a hamstring problem but will be ready to take on Athletic Club at Camp Nou as Barcelona look to complete the second part of what may be a historic treble.
Suarez, who missed the last two league games against Atletico and Deportivo, has trained well and will receive medical clearance to play on Saturday (30/5).
It is such a wonderful news for Luis Enrique. The Barcelona coach can count on Luis Suarez to be fit for the Copa del Rey final on Saturday.
