Olympique Lyonnais could have injured playmaker Yoann Gourcuff back in action on the pitch. Currently the club continue their bid to remain atop the Ligue 1 standings away to OGC Nice on Saturday (21/3) afternoon match.
Gourcuff suffered from a hamstring strain in the 5-1 win in Montpellier, a match in which he showed flashes of his amazing and undoubted talent with two assist. The playmaker missed Sunday’s match in Marseille, but the club has proudly announced that he is in line to take the field away to Nice. He has recovered in time to be included in the 18-man squad set to face Nice in Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash.
Yoann Gourcuff arrived at Lyon for 22 million Euros in 2010 with expectations he would build on the remarkable displays he had produced in helping former club Bordeaux to the Ligue 1 title in 2009.

And for their upcoming match, Hubert Fournier men’s bid for more of the same against Nice has taken a boost with the return to training of injured playmaker Gourcuff.
“We can be optimistic about his return to the pitch,” said the coach positively. Fournier also explained that the 28-year-old midfielder “had worked hard in the past week.” As an addition, Gourcuff has been described by former French international David Ginola as the best French player of his generation, with comparisons of playing style and ability to French legend Zinedine Zidane.
The timing of the France international’s return could not be better for Fournier, who will be without stopper Samuel Umtiti, left-back Henti Bedimo and star striker Alexandre Lacazette. And the good news does not stop here, since France midfielder Clement Grenier is also back on his feet after undergoing surgery for a persistent pubalgia complaint.
Besides the optimistic coach, Lyon has been issued for financial problem which related to pay cut of some players. Gourcuff is one of the player who recently accepted a pay cut to help ease Lyon’s financial concerns, and he is out of contract this summer. There are many reports that some clubs have registering their interest to the playmaker.
