The former Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder, Lacopo La Rocca, has completed the contract signing with his new club, Adelaide United. La Rocca has signed his a new contract with United for two years. The central midfielder had quite promising stats when he played for Wanderland with 58 appearances in which six goals he had scored. La Rocca surely had his name soared after he brought Wanderland winning AFC Champions League for which Josep Gombau’s side might be interested in.
La Rocca also said that it was Gombau directly who made a phone call and asked him to join the United side. As United showed a great intention for taking him into the team, La Rocca gladly took the offer.
“I was very happy to receive the phone call from Michael Perillo and coach Josep Gombau. I decided to sign because Adelaide showed they really wanted me and I am very happy to sign for one of the strongest clubs in Australia and to be part of this group of players,” said La Rocca.
La Rocca believes that Adelaide can win more trophies, and with his presence within the team, he will contribute a lot for the team. The Italian also sees Adelaide as a team with a beautiful style which is another reason for him to join the team. La Rocca will have to strive hard in order to get his spot within the team.
“I reckon we can win more trophies. I believe my experience and willingness to give my all for the team and coach at all times can help the team succeed. Everyone knows Adelaide plays the best football in Australia and I can’t wait to be a part of this style, but it’s up to me to prove myself and earn my spot in the team.”
Adelaide’s coach, Josep Gombau is pleased to have signed La Rocca. According to Gombau, the Italian’s best trait is great experience he has had in the league and international level. La Rocca is also capable to play in different positions which will help the team when there is lack of players for rotation during the league. La Rocca is expected to give more combination in the squad’s mid field.
“We are so happy with this new addition to our squad. Lacopo is a player who has extensive experience both here and internationally. He’s a proven winner and can also play different positions. He brings a different dimension to our squad, which is something we were looking for,” Gombau elaborated.
