Paris Saint-Germain’s players are targeting even more trophies next year after completing a domestic quadruplet with the Coupe de France title on Saturday.PSG defeated Auxerre 1-0 to add the cup to the Ligue 1 and Coupe de la Ligue titles won earlier in 2015, but goal scorer EdinsonCavani said there’s one more honor he wants to win in 2016.Beating Auxerre yesterday in the final of the French Cup, meant a fourth trophy of the season for Paris Saint Germain, a new club record.
It was also the perfect finish to Luiz’s debut campaign in France, the defender having moved to Paris from Chelsea ahead of the 2014-2015 season.David Luiz was delighted to round out a “great season” with Paris Saint-Germain and has now set his sights on UEFA Champions League glory with the French club.
The Brazil international is now determined to help the big-spending French side go on and be successful in Europe.
“Not bad, not bad, no? For my first season here,” Luiz added. “This is a big club, you have to have ambition to win every single competition. We have put our level high now, so we need to keep it in this way. Of course we want to do this jump, this step in Europe also.It is a dream to win the Champions League. This season we lost to one of the best clubs in the world, so we are in the right way.”
PSG reached the quarter-final stage this year, knocking out Chelsea in the process, before losing 5-1 on aggregate to Barcelona.
PSG also opened the season in Beijing by winning the Trophée des Champions, which pits the previous year’s Ligue 1 winners against the Coupe de France winners. As the winners of both trophies this year, PSG will face Ligue 1 runners-up this summer in Montreal.
“I am very happy here so for sure one day before I leave this club, I would like to stay here for 10 years, I don’t know how many years the president will give me a contract, but I would like to win the Champions League,” added Luiz.
While it seems that the ambition to win Champions League trophy is already the club’s quest. LucasMoura told the reporter: “I am very happy and very proud to play for PSG. I always want to win all the competitions in which my team is engaged. It is an extraordinary thing that we managed to win four national trophies, because this is the first time this occurs in the history of French football.”
“Now, we must not stop there, we must continue and go for the trophy we lack, the Champions League,” said the right winger.
