Thulani Serero who is playing for Ajax Amsterdam has been linked with some clubs for the transfer window. However Serero seems not interested with some offers coming for him, he has his very own reason to stay at the Dutch giant and that is his dream to play UEFA Champions League next season. These past months, Italian AC Milan have been targeting Serero to bring him to Serie A, and yet Serero’s hunger for Champions League may not be the essential deal which can be provided by Milan. Milan surely have long and great history in the Champions League but they do not qualify in that competition this year which is not in line with Serero’s vision.
Last season, Ajax finished the Dutch Eredivisie as the runner up, they are only second to PSV which automatically secured the available spot for the Champions League. Ajax have to play two rounds of play-offs in order to fight for the spot in the UCL group stages. If Serero should compare, the deal with Ajax is of course much better than AC Milan’s which last season did not even make it to Europa League spot. There is a possibility for Ajax to lose that spot if they fail in the play-off round but Serero surely would not mind to play some games to help Ajax to claim that spot.
The campaign for the UCL is near and Ajax have to be ready for the play-off rounds. In order to get the team hyped up for the struggle, Ajax have started their pre-season preparations. Serero is really serious with his hope to play with Ajax in UCL, he even has a big target to bring Ajax winning the European highest competition.
“My goal is to make the main draw of the UEFA Champions League with Ajax again and to be this year’s league champion. I have not had a long vacation. In total, I have been free for two weeks. I spent some time with family and friends. I’ve really enjoyed it,” told Serero to his club’s official website.
“For me it was long enough. I love football and I prefer to do it all day, so I do not mind to start again. Most players do not like the pre-season. It’s not my favorite part of the season. I think it’s more fun to play games. But pre-season is necessary. We have a month to be fully fit,” Serero added.
