Roma midfielder RadjaNainggolan has stated publicly that he wants to stay at the club for one more season, and feels he is more integrated with the club. Brought to the club in January of 2014, Nainggolan was merely supposed to be another cog in the machine. The 27-year-old international at the peak of his career has been AS Roma’s best player this season.
RadjaNainggolan has enjoyed an incredible rise. Just five years ago he was playing in a Serie B with Piacenza. He started the career in Serie A by joining the Sardinian outfit Cagliari. Five seasons in Serie A and over 130 league appearances later, Nainggolan had established himself as a good top flight player.Nainggolan joined Roma in January 2014 on loan for the rest of the 2013-2014 season. The Belgian international began his time in capital when the team was on a high. Roma were sitting second in the league and playing football which was earning them plaudits across the continent.
RadjaNainggolan insists he’s happy at AS Roma, as he tries to dismiss the reports concerning his future in the club. “We’ve done very well in my two years here, and I feel perfectly integrated. I hope to continue to do well in this shirt. It’s well-known that there’s the question of ownership which has to be resolved, but I’m happy here.”
A month after loan deal signing, Nainggolan scored his first goal for the capital side, grabbing the 1–0 winner against Bologna FC 1909. Nainggolan has produced some stunning performances this campaign. His dynamic style has energized Roma during the campaign. He has scored vital goals when his side have needed him most.Nainggolan was selected in a standby list for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
By beating the city rivals Lazio in the last match week, Roma have automatically qualified for the Champions League football next season. $21 million for 50% of Nainggolan would be slightly pricey, but Roma should take another gamble on the Belgian. Currently there are numerous other clubs interested in the Belgium international, including Juventus, Manchester United and Liverpool.
On the other hand, RadjaNainggolan told Roma to “wake up” if they want to buy him on a permanent basis from Cagliari. “I want to stay at Roma, but they are the ones who need to wake up,” Nainggolan is reported to have told fans as he left the training ground. “I can’t exactly buy myself.”
